His practice is currently concentrated on insurance coverage matters, professional liability, and complex litigation. His coverage work includes interpretation and litigation concerning commercial general liability policies, professional liability policies, automobile policies, employment and environmental and excess policies.
His professional liability work includes the defense of attorneys, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, architects, engineers, real estate brokers, and other professionals.
His practice also includes complex litigation, including defense of construction defect cases, defense of employment and civil rights claims, and defense of consumer class actions, including claims brought under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Magnuson-Moss and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
Tom has tried over 25 major lawsuits throughout the United States. He is admitted to the state courts of Illinois, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of Illinois, the Northern District of Indiana, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
He is also a member of the trial bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and a member of its Civil Procedure, Tort, and Insurance sections. He is also a member of Defense Research Institute (DRI). He has presented numerous in-house seminars for insurance carriers and has lectured at the PLRB/LIRB Claims Conferences.
