Jason Friedl obtained summary judgment in a product liability and consumer protection action in U.S. District Court for Eastern Michigan. The plaintiff brought suit to recover for personal injuries she claimed resulted from exercise equipment that did not conform to advertised properties, demanding over $500,000.
The court granted summary judgment on all counts, holding that consumer claims were subject to the Michigan Product Liability Act and that the plaintiff could not demonstrate sufficient facts to hold non-manufacturing retailers liable for the alleged defect.
